Opportunity:

Buddy Bag Delivery Driver - Porter County

Description

The Salvation Army Porter County works with No Child Hungry Northwest Indiana to provide shelf-stable food for low-income K-8 students on the weekends. Families struggling financially often rely on their children eating at least two meals a day at school. As such, the weekends ands school breaks can be stressful for families who are struggling to provide food for their families as it is.

No Child Hungry packs weekend food bags, called Buddy Bags, for over 100 children in the Porter County school systems so that families do not have to worry about what their children will eat on the weekends. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteer drivers to deliver these bags to elementary and intermediate schools in Chesterton.

Pickup is at the Church of the Four Seasons in Winfield on Wednesdays any time between 8:30AM and 3PM.

Deliveries are Thursdays from 9:30AM and 12:30PM, so volunteers will need to arrive by 8:30AM or 9AM to pick up.
