Make a Difference Through Sports!


The Portage Township YMCA is looking for positive, energetic volunteers to serve as Youth Sports Coaches for our growing programs. Our youth sports leagues focus on skill-building, teamwork, confidence, and fun in a supportive, character-driven environment.


We are currently seeking volunteer coaches for a variety of youth sports programs, including:




  • Basketball




  • Soccer




  • Volleyball




  • Flag Football




  • T-Ball/Baseball




  • Pickleball (Youth)




Responsibilities




  • Lead weekly practices and/or games (typically 1–2 hours per week)




  • Teach basic skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork




  • Create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants




  • Communicate with YMCA staff and parents as needed




  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth ages 3–14




Ideal Volunteer Qualities




  • Enjoys working with children




  • Positive, patient, and encouraging attitude




  • Basic knowledge of the sport (no expert experience required)




  • Reliable and able to commit to a full season




  • Willing to support YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

Time Commitment




  • Seasons vary (typically 6–8 weeks)
