Make a Difference Through Sports! The Portage Township YMCA is looking for positive, energetic volunteers to serve as Youth Sports Coaches for our growing programs. Our youth sports leagues focus on skill-building, teamwork, confidence, and fun in a supportive, character-driven environment. We are currently seeking volunteer coaches for a variety of youth sports programs, including: Basketball Soccer Volleyball Flag Football T-Ball/Baseball Pickleball (Youth) Responsibilities Lead weekly practices and/or games (typically 1–2 hours per week) Teach basic skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork Create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants Communicate with YMCA staff and parents as needed Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth ages 3–14 Ideal Volunteer Qualities Enjoys working with children Positive, patient, and encouraging attitude Basic knowledge of the sport (no expert experience required) Reliable and able to commit to a full season Willing to support YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility What the YMCA Provides Practice plans and coaching resources Equipment and facility space Staff support throughout the season Background check ($) The opportunity to impact youth in a meaningful way Time Commitment Seasons vary (typically 6–8 weeks) Evening and/or weekend availability preferred Why Volunteer as a Coach?
