Volunteer Advocate

Description

Volunteers at IGS begin their involvement as Volunteer Advocates. This role focuses on building relationships, providing companionship, and supporting individuals who may have limited or nonexistent personal support systems. Through regular visits and consistent presence, Volunteer Advocates help reduce isolation and ensure individuals remain seen, heard, and supported. Volunteers are required to be over 21 years of age; however, if an individual is actively in higher education (community college or greater), then the minimum age is 18 years of age. General responsibilities include visiting with assigned individual once per month, providing companionship and be a support system to someone without, providing companionship and relationship-support, observing general well-being and communicate concerns to IGS staff, documenting visit summaries as directed, and following all agency and state guidelines.
