The outreach volunteer helps the Development Department with spreading awareness, educating communities, and help to set up, organize and take down events. Our outreach volunteers make it possible to connect people experiencing domestic violence to our services and keep them safe.
Key Responsibilities:
· Represent the shelter at community events, resource fairs, and educational presentations.
· Share information about the shelter’s services, programs, and crisis resources.
· Help raise awareness about domestic violence, healthy relationships, and safety planning.
· Distribute outreach materials (brochures, flyers, resource guides) in the community.
· Assist staff with coordinating and preparing for outreach events and campaigns.
· Build positive relationships with community partners, organizations, and the public.
· Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy and safety of survivors.
Qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to maintain composure in sensitive or high-stress situations.
· Commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered care.
Schedule:
The volunteer coordinator will send a schedule of monthly events.
